Split the rent

How the math works

Room size mode gives each person their room's share of the total bedroom area, then adds 12 percent of weight for a private bathroom. Income mode gives each person the same percentage of their income. Evenly divides by the number of people.

Cents that will not divide evenly are handed out one each, to the largest fractions first, so the column always sums to the rent you entered and no roommate pays more than a cent above another. The line under the table checks the total.

If you want the reasoning behind each method, and when to use which, read how to split rent fairly.

Then keep it split

A calculator settles the argument once. The rent posts again next month, and so does the internet bill.

Footnote splits from the charge itself: the rent leaves your account, the split runs on that row, and every roommate's share traces back to it. Shared expenses are free, and the other person needs no download and no account. Start free.

Settle it with the group

You have the shares. Footnote keeps the split, tracks who has paid, and every share opens back to the charge behind it. No account, no download, and the people you send it to need neither.
