The service
Footnote provides personal-finance organization, calculations, and shared-expense records. It is informational software—not a bank, payment processor, broker, accountant, financial adviser, tax adviser, or law firm. Footnote does not move money or guarantee that another person will repay a balance.
Your account
Provide accurate account information, protect your sign-in methods, and promptly report unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account. You must be legally able to agree to these terms; otherwise a parent or guardian must agree for you.
Your data and groups
You keep ownership of content you add. You give Footnote permission to store, process, display, and transmit that content only as needed to operate the service. Do not upload content you lack permission to share. Group information is visible to that group’s members, and members may retain information they have already received.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse Footnote, probe or disrupt the service, access another person’s data without permission, automate abusive traffic, infringe rights, or use the service for unlawful activity.
Connected services
Apple, Google, Plaid, financial institutions, and other providers may apply their own terms and privacy policies. Their availability and data can change independently of Footnote.
Free and paid features
Footnote offers free features and may offer optional paid features. A recurring purchase renews through the store or payment provider shown at checkout until canceled there. Price, billing period, and any trial are shown before purchase. Except where law or the store requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable.
Beta availability
Footnote may change, suspend, or discontinue beta features. Data from financial institutions can be delayed, incomplete, duplicated, or corrected later. Review important information against the original account or document before acting on it.
Disclaimers and responsibility
To the extent permitted by law, Footnote is provided “as is” without warranties of uninterrupted availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose. Footnote is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. These limits do not exclude rights or liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.
Ending use and changes
You may stop using Footnote and delete your account at any time. Footnote may restrict accounts that materially violate these terms or threaten users or the service. Material changes to these terms will be posted here with a new date.
